I picked up a classic nude (Cannes) and a dark berry/plum shade (Budapest) and I really do love them both. Everyone has definitely heard of these, if not tried them if they can get their hands on them and I do think that these are a great purchase.
The NYX soft matte lip creams are one of the most common liquid lipsticks on the market I think. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream £6 – Cannes (19) & Budapest (25).Left to right: toute nude, framboiselle, bloody berry I’m a huge fan of the red shades Framboiselle – which is a more orangey red – and Bloody Berry – which is a more berry toned red. They’re super easy to apply and have a really sophisticated look. My mum also has a further two so I can say with a lot of confidence that these things are fab. I think it’s pretty obvious but I am indeed a huge fan of these – as shown by the fact that I have 3 of the 8 available shades. The weird but wonderful thing about these is that they do have a lasting effect which I find surprising for a glossy lip product. Bourjois fairly recently brought out these new liquid lipsticks in a laque formula, with the pigment of a matte liquid lipstick but the shine of a gloss. So here’s a thing: not all liquid lipsticks have to be matte.
Bourjois Rouge Laque £8.99 – Toute Nude 0(2), Framboiselle 0(6) & Bloody Berry (08). Left to right: Tahiti hibiscus, birthday suit, nude-ist Again though, a wonderful thing about this lipstick is you can put a tiny bit on and rub it in with your finger to get a subtle look or apply with the applicator to get more lipstick coverage. This Nude-ist shade looks beautiful in the packaging but I would say it definitely looks more pink on the lips. Whilst a lot of these liquid lipsticks can come in small packages and not last that long (hint hint, NYX soft cream), this one is pretty hefty in size, but this makes sense for the price. The great thing about the rouge edition velvet lipsticks is that they are super creamy and *wait for it* velvety. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet £8.99 – Nude-ist (07). If I apply a touch up after the first layer has dried the whole thing starts to peel and look patchy which isn’t great and considering its quite hard to apply, this is such a disappointment! However, I do know a lot of people who love this and don’t have these issues so it’s definitely worth a try for the price. It truly is a gorgeous shade, it would make a great everyday lipstick but the formula in my opinion is a little thick and just impossible to wear for a long time. According to a lot of reviews, this is a lovely wearable nude but I have to say that I just do not get along with it. I’d heard a whole bunch of raving reviews about this product in this shade and for that reason and the fact it is only £4.99, I had to try it out. Sleek Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matt Lip Cream £4.99 – Birthday Suit (436). It does wear off, but it wears off evenly so that doesn’t bother me at all as long as I avoid the dreaded lipstick ring! I also like how I can build it up, so I can wear a more subtle red if I apply lightly or I can apply more and have a more dramatic look – a definite winner for only £6. I really like this liquid lipstick, I would definitely say it is one of the best of the ones I’ve tried because it applies super well, it is very velvety and it lasts without drying my lips out. In the tube, this looks like a really dark red shade but on the lip it definitely has a little bit of a red hint to it. I wanted to pick up one of the red shades because my favourite nude shade in this line (Winsor Rose) wasn’t available so I picked up Tahiti Hibiscus. They sent me a 30% off voucher to use so I made the most of it and popped in to buy one of their liquid lipsticks. I signed up to the rewards club at The Body Shop and this scheme never fails to disappoint me.
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid £6 – Tahiti Hibiscus (016). So I’ve tried a fair few liquid lipsticks because I honestly buy far too many lip products and when this trend hit I just fell right into the hole and got sucked into the hype so let me walk you through the ones I’ve tried and give you the best and the worst of them. I know that everyone and their dog seems to have done a post like this but I feel like as a lipstick addict it’s only damn logical I follow the trend and shed my own light on these little beauties. I’m back with this week’s post and today we’re focusing on liquid lipsticks.
